Picnic Point WWTF

Completion: 2013
Location: Edmonds, WA
Type: Waste Water Treament Facility

Cody furnished $1.4 M worth of structural steel and miscellaneous metals for this state of the art treatment facility nestled in the pine forests of Edmonds near the Puget Trough in Washington state.

Update Jan 2024. The Dryer platform in the solids handling building used aluminum railing and aluminum grating and treads on Galvanized steel stair stringers and platform framing. There was no isolation applied between the hot dip galvanized steel and the aluminum material. As you can see from the attached photos taken 12 ½ years after installation there is no evidence of corrosion between the galvanized steel and the aluminum.

Galvanic action is the corrosion that occurs between dissimilar metals. After decades of experience, it’s good to look back and see what actually happened. There is a lot of confusion and speculation about how to handle galvanic action. Here is a case where we can build something like this and see it handle the test of time.
