Orange County Groundwater Replenishment System Expansion

Cody Builders Supply was proud to support Shimmick Construction on the award-winning Groundwater Replenishment System Expansion in Orange County, California.

The expansion increased the facility’s treatment capacity to provide clean, reliable water for approximately one million people. Making Orange County home to the world’s largest wastewater recycling facility. With extensive site and structural improvements, earning multiple industry awards for innovation, design excellence, and project execution.

Cody Builders Supply provided critical stainless steel fabrication, value-engineering, and fabrication expertise support that improved constructability and reduced project costs. Working closely with Shimmick’s project team, we evaluated several platforms and where the contract documents originally specified field-welded connections. By redesigning these connections as shop-fabricated bolted assemblies, we significantly reduced field labor requirements, minimized welding and inspection costs, improved installation efficiency, and saved the project tens of thousands of dollars in construction expenses.
