In Houston, Texas, there was a need to filter the effluent water for a large storm event. The design was for large screens on a slanted surface.
First, we had to figure out how to make the trash racks by notching the bars so they could be assembled. Then we saw that there was too much flex in the screen assemblies because they only had a flat bar on the back of them.
We helped by providing a stiffening angle on the spur of the moment and making the screens into smaller segments. The screens were taking up a lot of room in the shop, and the flow of work was at a very high volume, so we had to act rapidly in coordination with the contractor (Persons) and the designer.
The site work was challenging because some dimensions were hard to visualize so we went to the site to help the contractor understand the layout better.
