How much can we rely on the division 5 metals scope to be complete and not have to check with other trades to see if coverage is needed or is missing?
It varies based upon the job. Key things to check for scope overlap are pipe supports, site items, any steel framing needed for electrical or HVAC which is not specifically called out on the contract drawings.
What is the max. size of assemblies to be fabricated and shipped?
A typical truck is 8′ wide x 45′ long. A full truck should be 40,000 lbs.
Do they make a hot rolled or extruded stainless steel beam?
Yes, but only very small sizes and they can prove to be very expensive. Most stainless steel beams, of any size, can be fabricated by Cody Builders supply at much more inexpensive rates.
Is a Full Pen weld stronger than a fillet weld?
A fillet weld, if large enough, can be just as strong as a full pen weld.
